Sun-Faced Lion Maiden
About this workShow less
This painting seems made for sunlight. It bathes in it, changes, and reveals new shades. Light carries on the artist’s work.
I look at it and am surprised every time: the canvas is the same, but the impression has changed. Today it holds so much warm, generous joy that I want to save some for a cloudy day.

Finding Wings
About this workShow less
Or “I Have Always Known How to Fly”.
Sometimes you recognise freedom before you dare to take a step. Everything around you is the same, yet the old boundaries already feel too narrow.
I painted this work thinking about the courage to trust yourself. I wanted to give colour and movement room to spread, to capture the moment when pent-up energy finally finds its way out.
Or perhaps the wings have been with us all along?

Sunny Cat
About this workShow less
Cats are remarkably true to themselves. After so many years alongside people, they still keep their own rhythm, independent spirit, and mystery. Who has adapted to whom is still an open question.
I wanted to paint a cat that is in no hurry and has nothing to prove. A black silhouette, sunny yellow, and the quiet confidence of someone who knows she is in charge.
You look at her and think: perhaps some things can wait.

The Strength of a Russian Woman
About this workShow less
I think about a strength in which tenderness remains alive. About the ability to endure a great deal and still keep your warmth.
What matters to me in this work is the wholeness of the image: resilience and softness exist side by side, complementing each other. Sometimes it is precisely this closeness that lets you recognise something deeply personal in a painting.

The Power of Water
About this workShow less
The mood of colour: rain on glass.
Your eyes follow the streams of water. The outlines beyond the window blur, and your thoughts lose their haste. You want to throw the window open and breathe in that freshness.
I painted it wanting to hold on to the moment when rain seems to wash everything around us and breathing becomes easier.
Wash, water, wash all sorrows away.

Finding Your Own Path
About this workShow less
Beyond the visible world, the soul’s journey begins.
This painting was inspired by Edmund Shklyarsky’s song with the band Piknik, “To Fly Beyond the Forests and Mountains”.
Some music leaves you living in its world long after it ends. I wanted to carry that sound on through paint, to express the pull of the unknown, of what lies beyond the familiar horizon.
What might a colour sound like if it had a voice? That question stayed with me as I worked.

Returning to Yourself / The Way Home
About this workShow less
Left: Returning to Yourself
Raspberry red fills the canvas with energy, alive and almost unbearable. Cool blue verticals arrest your gaze. A tension emerges between them and gradually becomes balance.
The lines are uneven, the background shows through them, and dense brushstrokes give way to transparent ones. I wanted to leave these traces visible: what we have lived through stays with us, even as we change.
For me, returning to yourself begins with permission to feel. This painting has room for both the intensity of experience and a pause.
Right: The Way Home
Sunny yellow fills the canvas, and flowing green lines lead the eye through the light. Their gentle movement holds a sense of recognition for me: it is warm here; here, you can breathe out.
I think of home as a feeling we carry with us. Sometimes a familiar colour brings it back before a memory has time to find words.

Yana KornAbout the artist
Painting as a space for
a personal perspective.
Yana Korn is the artistic name of Anastasia Alexandrovna Kornetskaya. Her practice encompasses figurative imagery and abstract compositions.
At the heart of my artistic practice is an exploration of the emotional and psychological impact of colour: its ability to shape mood, express inner states, and reveal what it means to be in harmony with oneself.
She has participated in international contemporary art exhibitions and competitions, as well as a multimedia exhibition project in Moscow.
